Sunnys summer!!!

Well, well. I guess I would give you all a little update on my summer so far, if you are interested. If you are not, I will write it anyway ;)
Went one week with Malene to London. We had such a great time!! Spent way to much money, though... Took classes at pineapple and stuff as well. Lots of fun to see great dancers and get inspired!!

The week after, I started my summerjob. I work at a graveyard, actually. It might sound a bit wierd, but it is actually very nice. I work from 7am to 3pm monday to friday. It is kind of hard to get up at 6am, but I am getting used to it. Besides, it is so nice to finish early so that I can spend the rest of the day doing whatever I want:) I mostly cut the grass and take care of the flowers on the graves. There are a lot of people who pay us to take care of the flowers and stuff on their loved ones gravesites. I also get to drive a big lawnmover quite a lot. The big one where you sit on top and stuff. Soooo much fun to do! Although it is quite easy to drive into gravestones and stuff. Not so much fun when that happens... This week it has been raining almost all the time, so me and another girl have been cleaning inside a couple of churches around here. Other than that, we have been pushing the lawnmovers around, getting very wet ;)



I attended a dance course last weekend at my first dance school (La Salle de Danse) that was taught by Philip from the norwegian version of "So you think you can dance". It was so much fun! We learned a really nice lyrical combination in the jazz class and in the end, I got to dance alone with him! OMG! Soooo cool!!! (see picture....)

When I am not at work, I spend my time either at Extend (my old dance school) or at home sewing costumes. I have my sewing machine and stuff at Extend and we have rigged up a couple of big worktables there. Costume production for the nutcracker 2007 are in full swing. It is soooo much to do that I have no idea how we are going to manage getting it all finished... Today I spent 4 hours decorating the showprince costume. It is turning out quite nicely, I think... I guess there will also be some rehersals coming up for the nutcracker. I am dancing the snow queen pas de deux and the arabian dance. I am also going to dance Clara in a couple of performances!!! I am soooooo excited about that!!! I just found out about it a couple of weeks ago, so it was a very nice surprise! Cant wait!!!

So to sum up, my days are filled with my job and sewing. Have not really had much time for anything else... And the time fly by so quickly... Before I know it, school will be starting! Am actually looking forward to that, but am more concerned about getting most of the costumes done by the end of the summer. So with that in mind,better get back to pleating the tulle for the flower fairy tutu ;)

17 may (norway day)!!!

Well, well, 17th of may is over for now (that is norway day, you know...). I had such a good time! Went up to school around 11 to help with making lunch ready, then we had lunch with a lot of people from school at 1. After that, we were in the big parade. It was soooo much fun!! We went in front of the band and danced ahead of them all they way.. Did a lot of pas de bourees and mattox arms.. ;) Then at around 7.30 we went up to the park that is around our school and had a barbeque with some of the music students. It has really been the best norway day I have ever had..
I am soooo tired today, though. Could hardly get up... Almost everyone had the day off today, but not us. Oh no. We had ballet class at 8.30.. Thankfully, our graham class was canceled after that, so we could go home at 10...

Leotard!

Well, had my first attempt to make a leotard yesterday. It went... ok.. I guess. Actually used it in my ballet class today. It looks ok from a distance, but not that nice close up.. But hey. It was my first try, and I dont have an overlock machine, so it will never look completely professional when you sew in lycra with a normal one. But here you go: a couple of pics:

Utrolig facinerende: Jeg kan nå dra pekefingeren på høyre hånd ut av ledd... Artig... Er nok ikke så lurt å gjøre det, men det er jo litt artig, da ;) Fikk denne nye egenskapen etter jeg prøvde på et RS triks i går etter jazzeksamen.. Falt overende som en potetsekk og fikk strukket en sene som går fra håndleddet til pekefingeren (eller noe i den duren).. Det er ivertfall hovent oppå der... Men det var jo artig for klassen å få praktisere PRICE prinsippene som vi har hadde om i treningslære forrige uke. Aldri så galt, liksom...

Exams!!!!!

Ok. Just got a really loooong list of our exams... Am trying to breath here... Getting a bit stressed to say the least.
Well, here is the list:
Jazz: tuesday 24th of april (getting extremely close...)
Ballet and modern: thursday 24th of may
Choreography: some sort of assignment/performance wedensday 23rd of may.. No idea what it entails...
Dancehistory: home exam to be handed in by 5th of june (not to stressed about that yet...)
Anatomy: home exam 11th to 13th of june
Music for dancers: last assignment to be turned in by 17th of april (I thought it was next tuesday... freeking out a bit about that...)
Dansedidaktikk (how to teach dance): oral exam 11th of may (what in the world??)
Pedagogy: assignement (dont know when it is supposed to be in, but I think we have to write about motivation or something...)

Ok. I am going to lie down and try to calm down... Feel a heart attack coming...

Getting better...

Well, been sick almost all week. Extremely boring! Getting better now, though... Went to a fleemarked today and got a really cool brown leather bag for 10kr (about 80p...)! Brilliant!!! Made my first attempt to make a headdress today. It is for my arabian solo in the nutcracker. I am quite happy with it...

Hermer litt av min vakre kusine her, men det får man tåle. Er syk, så orker ikke å komme på noe mer originalt..

Man innser at det er på tide å rydde når man ikke kan se gulvet på rommet lenger

Man innser at man har udugelige kollektivbeboere når de på sin vaskedag bruker en time på å vaske kjøkkenbenken (og brette plastposer) og "glemmer" å støvsuge og vaske gulvene...

Man innser at man kanskje er litt sliten når man ser frem til en frihelg som om det skulle vært en sommerferie

Man innser at man kanskje er litt stiv i musklene i torsoen når det tøyer hver gang man tar en dyp innpust

Man innser at man kanskje burde være litt mer forsiktig med knappenålene når man finner 3 stykker på madrassen når man har stått opp (flaks at man ikke punkterte noe i søvne...)

Man innser at man kanskje er litt trøtt og sliten når man sover 18 timer på et døgn...

It is snowing!!

OMG! I cant believe that it is actually snowing!!! It was supposed to become summer now... It is really oming down as well. It is all white outside... Well, I am going back to Stavanger tomorrow, and there it will probably be raining ;) Well, a nice thing is that I got the summer job I really wanted! Ok, dont laugh, but it is in our local cemetary. But it is not like digging graves and stuff... haha.. I will be watering, trimming the grass and stuff like that. Cant wait to be outside the whole summer!!! And I will start at 7am and end at 3pm, so then I will have so much time to work on nutcracker costumes and stuff after work. Hurray!!!

Finaly easter holiday!!!

Well, it is finaly the easter holiday! I have been attending a RAD course in Oslo sunday, monday, tuesday. It was so much fun!!! Learned so much! But I am really happy that I have a few days of now. Not that I did not have a good time, but it is just so nice to have a few days to just rest... I have not had a proper day of for 4 weeks... So hurray!
